Pérez García Location: Camí de la Lloma Date: 2002 The drinking water tank is located on the Calle Mayor on the outskirts of the town and still supplies the town’s drinking water. It is an elevated tank, built in reinforced concrete, with a circular section and a flat roof, which stands on a structure of 8 reinforced concrete pillars that form an octagon strengthened by three levels of crossbeams. Three pipes run down from the tank’s base to the ground, each one connected to a pillar with iron clamps. These are the distribution pipes, the overflow and the impulsion pipe that connects to the pump located in the hut that has been built next to the tank. On one side of the tank is a staircase made of six sections and surrounded by an iron ring. The well is also built next to the tank. It is in a good state of conservation, and a wall has been built between the pillars to form an enclosed area. It has been painted with stripes of various colours to give different chromatic suggestions. Combined with strong, variable lighting by night, this results in an architectural work capable of adding artistic value and unique landscapes to the urban environment. The tank was restored in 2002 in a project that also included the construction of a new 2,000 m² park. The restoration of the tank consisted first of all in the consolidation of its structure, which had been damaged by dampness in order to prevent deterioration. Finally, an artistic intervention was carried out which has turned the old tank into a living work of art in constant change. The framework was painted a deep blue to interact with the Mediterranean sky, while the water container was painted with stripes of various colours. Artists: Joan Llavería and Elías M.
